You’re in the market for a great floor. At Advantage Flooring, we think that you can find it in luxury vinyl. It’s a durable and elegant-looking flooring material. You’ll find that it can go in every room in your house and make it look great.

The design layer, or imaging layer, of luxury vinyl is three-dimensional. This means that it has depth to it. So if something were to gouge the floor, there would be little sign of it. The images in the design layer are what you want them to be. They can be wood, stone, tile, or brick. The vinyl can come in brilliant colors and thrilling patterns that can match any décor. The flooring is embossed and micro-beveled to give it that aged look if you desire that.

Two Types

There are two types of luxury vinyl: plank and tile. The luxury vinyl plank comes in long strips of varying lengths and widths. It is flexible and can mold itself well to the subfloor. So you want the subfloor to be smooth and unblemished by holes. Luxury vinyl plank is also known as LVP.

Luxury vinyl tile, also known as LVT, comes in a square format. It’s firmer than LVP, but it is still the same material. It looks and feels just like a ceramic or porcelain tile, and at first glance, you may think it to be the real thing. It can go in bathrooms and kitchens, but also in other rooms as well.

Both LVP and LVT are waterproof. At their core, they are plastic wood and plastic stone composites. The material won't ripple, warp, or curl when exposed to water for any length of time. This is due to the principal component of the material being PVC, a standard construction material. PVC is inherently waterproof.
